About Chiapas:
During the pre-Hispanic era, several civilizations occupied its territory, such as the Olmec, Maya and Chiapeneca. During the Nueva España it was part of the Captaincy General of Guatemala. Considered a Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the marimbas, amber, coffee and embroidery on colorful textiles, contribute to its cultural and gastronomic richness.
The textile works have a lot of influence from the Guatemalan culture, using many flowers, butterflies and birds from the region in the embroidery.
